This "Remembrance" exhibition features the large, lush abstract paintings from Deborah Thomas' days as a New York studio artist hanging alongside more recent installations, writings and collaborative projects where she often delved into photographs and text on themes of family, found memory, landscape and the environment.
The exhibition was organized by the SCWCA Eco-Art Collective as a community project at the invitation of Avenue 50 Studio's director, Kathy Gallegos. Thomas frequently exhibited her work and curated shows there, often as a member of the Arroyo Arts Collective. She was also a long-time member of the SCWCA Eco-Art collective and curator of the group's Wilderness Mind: Dissolving Duality exhibition at Angels Gate Cultural Center in 2012.
