Artist Statement

I always said that if I had to put a painting to words, then the painting failed. That says a lot about why I paint. There is an emotional element to a painting that must be successfully expressed. That communication is my driving motivation. It could be the way light hits on a certain subject that strikes a chord in my soul, or the subject itself. Once sounded, that chord must be set forth. So, I strive to improve my skills and reach inside to draw those emotions out through my brushes and use of colors. I know I will never learn everything there is to know about painting, but I will continue my journey knowing there is no destination—just beautiful stops along the way that get better as I go.
