Individuals do not have a singular identity, especially when we consider who we are and how we are. Rather we have numerous ways that we identify ourselves including race, class, gender, sexuality, age, and (dis)ability.
We are seeking artistic works that address intersectionality; that is the ways that our identities overlap in multiple areas of discrimination, and the way that these intersecting relationships can shift depending on the context of time and location. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly considering multiplicity within intersectionality. Artwork can be in any approach and form, including the historic precedents set by Chicago’s political activists and socially-engaged artwork.
